Beta Fashion Skull entry

I was inspired to combine one of my current collections called 'Rose Favours' with the skull theme. I was drawn to hot pink, white and black when playing around with colour combinations.  I was aiming for a pretty but sexy outcome.

Currently I am drawn to florals, checks and hot pink. I plan I developing a collection for each design below. They don't sit well together so I need to spent time to make them pattern friends. 

I also plan on spending more time this month adding links, improving the look of my blog and gaining more followers. Thank you to my one and only follower ! 

Tigerprint entries

Finally emailed my entries to Tigerprint. I have enjoyed using my watercolour paints and inks ( which were covered in dust)  to create layers of mess and paintings of flowers, from a collection of photos taken some time ago.

June Creative Colour Challenge

Finally I have joined Louise Gales exciting Creative Colour Challenge. This month was red and roses. I was a little rushed but managed to get a design done in time.

RoSe, FlOraLs and StrIpES..

I would love to hid away for at least two hours a day where I could sketch, paint and design. Due to the limited time or distractions I feel my work is lacking quality. More time is needed on each piece. Instead I find myself rushing to my next ideas or sketch to create a designs which at the end looks unfinished. Plus there are so many contests or groups which promote monthly challenges which I so want to enter. My list is long, what to do first???

I've had a fun morning creating designs  for the brahantia bin competition. I have entered three designs which are based on my dots, spots and roses collection.

My new found love for SPD must be credited to the extremely talented Rachael Taylor who has provided me with the confidence to develop, explore, experiment and spark new ideas. Thank you!!!

Love, Love, Love my new explosion of designs. I still have a long way to go and still need to find my signature style but I feel I am getting closer each day.
I must also thank Beth Nicholls and my amazing talented fellow surface lovers, who have given me lovely and encouraging feedback. Thank you all :)))

Back to the splats and swirls, however adding my love of RoSes to the mix.

CoNTROL, ORder, Mess FrEE ?

Trying really hard to allow control, repetition and simple layers become a happy balance with my dribbles, splats and marks ( which I love). I have a long way to go but enjoying the process so far.

HiDdEN ChECKS

Again I become obsessed with mess. Why am I so draw to spontaneous layers? I struggle with ordered patterns and find them boring and organised. What does that say about me?

RoSe SpLaSH ..x

'Rose Splash' is a design developed from a series of splats, marks and dribble paintings, combined with photos of roses take in the garden.  I would like to use these designs on items such as stationary, bags, mobile skin covers and kitchen ware.

I need to spend more time on one design, before rushing to the next, if I am to improve as a surface pattern designer. These designs need a lot of improvement such as more control, better compositional planning and colour combinations.

I'm enjoying the challenges and thats all that matters at this present time!

RePEat PaTtErNs

I love learning new techniques especially when they are quick, easy and fun. To achieve a better more polished repeat, I will endeavor to use illustrator more often and learn where those import tools are.

cOLour, ColOuR, CoLOur

Deconstructing old photos, has been a fun and easy way of identifying a variety of colour combinations. This activity has become addictive. Here are just a few of my new colour combinations which I plan to use in my next design.

MaRks, SplAts and DriBbles

 Fun Fun Fun, exploring marks, splats and dribbles. I will use these at a later stage as backgrounds for future designs. For now I will enjoy the mess and process of letting go of control.
